Library Programs and Services

Iโ€™d prefer not to have my photograph taken during a library program. What do I do?

Programs, events and spaces may be photographed or recorded to be utilized in the Libraryโ€™s print and online publications. Please notify Library staff if you prefer that you or your family members not be photographed.

Does the Library offer CPR classes?

Check the Current Library Newsletter for a listing of program dates and times. The Library may occasionally offer CPR classes.

If you do not find a listing in the newsletter please contact the American Red Cross.

How can I find a computer class?

  • Go to the Tech Programs page on our website.
  • Click on the name of the program you want to register for.
  • The *Register link will appear on the program page if online registration is available.
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your Password.
    *If you do not have a Password you will be prompted to create a Password by reentering your Barcode and whatever Password you choose twice, then click the Submit button.
    *Programs with a fee require in-person registration.

How do I register for a program?

PLEASE NOTE: *Programs with a fee or a ticket require in-person registration.

  • Go to the Programs page on our website.
  • Click the link to “Search and Register for Library Programs”.
  • Click the *Register link.
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your Password.
    *To create a new password, visit this page and enter your library card barcode. An email will be sent to the email address in your Library Account, asking you to follow a few steps to establish your password. A valid email address must be present in your Library Record in order to use this service and access online library services.
    *To change your password, use the Forgot Your Password? function. After entering your username or barcode, an email will be sent to the address in your library record, along with instructions for creating a new password.

  • Go to the Programs page on our website.
  • Click the link to “View the Program Calendar”.
  • Click on the name of the program you want to register for using the calendar provided.
  • Click the *button next to the number of seats remaining to register.
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your Password.
    *If you do not have a Password you will be prompted to create a Password by reentering your Barcode and whatever Password you choose twice, then click Submit.
    *Programs with a fee or a ticket require in-person registration.

How do I borrow an ebook?

Can you borrow items and/or register for Library programs if West Babylon is not your home Library?

  • You can borrow most items with a Library card from any Suffolk County Library.
    *Some restrictions do apply to new items.
  • Most Adult and Teen programs are open to Non-Residents 14 days prior to the program date.
  • Children’s programs are limited to West Babylon cardholders only.
  • Please contact the Library for more details.

What are the guidelines for the Tech Tutor service?

  • The TECH TUTOR service is available to WEST BABYLON PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD holders.
  • Receive help with the West Babylon Public Library website, Live-brary downloads, Library services and electronic devices, how to conduct video conference calls, the basics of email and social networking (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Basic assistance with your electronic devices and programs (cell phones, eBook readers, laptops, etc.) is also available.
  • 30 minute sessions, up to 2 hours per month, totaling 14 hours per person, per year.
  • Please call the Reference Desk, 631-669-5445, to make an appointment.
    *Library staff are unable to fix viruses, install programs or diagnosis problems on patron owned devices.
