Community Explorers: Gardens

Community Explorers

April 2021

Become a Community Explorer! Stop by the Library to pick up your Local Seed and Plant Guide filled with information on all plants and how to start your own garden. Keep a log of all the different plants you see in your neighborhood and take pictures if you can! Don’t forget to stop by our Seed Saving Library – the mission of our Seed Saving Library is to collect, grow, and share seeds with the community (please see a librarian or our website for more information). Send your drawings, pictures and lists to childrens@wbpl.us to be featured on our website and help other community explorers see what’s in their neighborhood! Open to all ages.

We’re partnering with Belmont Lake State Park! Adults with valid West Babylon Public Library cards can check out our Empire Pass and visit Belmont Lake State Park! Don’t forget to bring your Local Plant Guide to see what’s blooming at the park! There are many flowers growing throughout the park, which emerge every spring, in addition to a few seasonally planted flower beds, courtesy of park staff. See how many different plants you can find on the Scavenger Hunt attached in your packet! During your adventure, stop by the famous Belmont cannons to take a picture of you and your family, then email it to childrens@wbpl.us to be entered into a raffle!
