{"id":12986,"date":"2014-04-11T19:43:14","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T19:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wbab.suffolk.lib.ny.us\/WP3\/?page_id=12986"},"modified":"2026-03-10T16:40:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T20:40:49","slug":"computer-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wbab.suffolk.lib.ny.us\/redesign\/about\/computer-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Computer Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<h3 class=\"box-title\">Public Computers and Printers<\/h3>\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Public Computers<br \/>\nAvailable for use in the Adult Room (for Grades 6 through Adult) and in the Children&#8217;s Room (for Preschool-Grade 5).<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Adult Room:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Log in to the computers using your 14 digit West Babylon Library Card number (OR if you are Non-Resident with a Suffolk County Public Library Card, you may use the number on the back of your Card) and 4 digit password number.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Your 4 digit password number is the last 4 digits of your telephone number.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">If you are unable to login with your barcode + the last 4 digits of your telephone number please see a Reference Librarian for assistance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">If you don\u2019t have a Suffolk County Public Library Card, you will need to apply for a Guest Card at the Circulation Desk. You will be asked to show ID (with your name and address) in order to obtain these privileges.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Children&#8217;s Room:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Children in 5th grade and under can log in to the computers using your 14 digit West Babylon Library Card number. Non-Resident Children (5th grade and under) can ask for a Pharos Guest card at the Children\u2019s Desk. Cards are to be returned to Children\u2019s Reference Desk at the end of usage for that given day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Public Printers<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Available for use in the Adult and Children&#8217;s Room.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Printing costs:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Black and White\u2013 10 cents per page.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Color\u2013 20 cents per page.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/h4>\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<h3 class=\"box-title\">Print from Anywhere<\/h3>\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Print *documents or web pages from your Internet connected computer or laptop to a printer in the Library. *<a href=\"https:\/\/wbab.suffolk.lib.ny.us\/redesign\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/PrinterOnSupportedFileFormatsRev.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">List of supported file formats<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You can send a print job from the Library\u2019s wireless network, from your home or anywhere you have Internet access.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Print jobs will be available for printing for 48 hours after the jobs are sent<\/span>.<br \/>\n<h4><strong>***<\/strong>Please double check that your print job looks the way you want, BEFORE you print, by clicking the File-Print Preview option before printing. <span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">User error, typos, formatting issues, printing the wrong document, printing too many or blank pages CANNOT be refunded.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Printing Costs:<br \/>\nBlack and White\u2013 10 cents per page.<br \/>\nColor\u2013 20 cents per page.<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">*The Print From Anywhere system will accept barcode numbers from ANY Suffolk County Public Library.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">*If you live out of Suffolk County you must apply for a Guest Card at the Circulation Desk prior to using this service.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">*Patrons (WBPL cardholders and non-residents) can add money to their Pharos account using the self-service machine in the Library in order to pay for printouts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Learn <a href=\"https:\/\/wbab.suffolk.lib.ny.us\/redesign\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/printingdirectionsWordRev12-25.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To Send Your Print Job<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.printeron.net\/wbabylonpl\/webprint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Begin Printing @ Your Library<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<h3 class=\"box-title\">Wireless Internet Access<\/h3>\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Library offers Wireless Internet Access. All you need to use this service is your own laptop computer with a wireless network card.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">* No waiting for an available public Internet computer.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">* No time limits on the Internet.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">* Ability to save files to your own computer.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">* Work when you want and where you want.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">* Free access to a high-speed Internet connection.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<h3 class=\"box-title\">Public Scanner<\/h3>\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Do you have family photographs or important documents you\u2019d like to convert to electronic format and preserve? Need to scan your resume and email it to a potential employer? All of this and more is now possible with the Library\u2019s Free Book Scan Station. Your documents and photographs can now be scanned and saved to a USB drive, emailed to the person of your choice, saved to a smart phone, tablet, Google Docs, Sky Drive and\/or printed. Black and white prints cost 10 cents per page. Color costs 20 cents per page.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">*Please be aware that one computer login will be used to access the book scan station.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"fax\">\n<div class=\"wpcmsdev-box\">\n<h3 class=\"box-title\">Public Fax Machine<\/h3>\n<div class=\"box-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Library has a fax machine located by the copy machines. It can be used to send domestic or international faxes.
