Community Mental Health Promotion & Support Program Information Table

The Community Mental Health Promotion and Support Program (COMHPS) is a free, anonymous, and confidential program funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health that aims to support community members with mental health needs and to establish, maintain, and improve individual and community mental health and wellness by providing emotional support/brief counseling, providing mental health workshops that can be tailored to any age group, providing support groups, providing recreational activities that promote wellness, and make links and referrals to community resources and licensed mental health professions.

Makerspace Drop-In

Drop in for an overview of the Library’s Makerspace. The Makerspace is an area that allows patrons an opportunity to produce projects using a variety of Library-owned resources including Cricut cutting machines, a poster printer, button makers, and more! No registration required.

Medicaid Enrollment Assistance

10 am-1:30 pm

The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council will have facilitated enrollers trained by the NY State Department of Health at our Library to assist the aged, blind, and disabled populations with enrollment. Sign up will be first-come, first-served and is free of charge. For more information, call the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council at 631-435-3000.

Unleash your creativity and join our drop-in craft club! Bring your knitting, crocheting, or any other needlework project that you’re working on. Learn how to set-up your own FREE Canva account which will allow you to create different custom print materials. This class will cover setting up and using Canva and creating a poster to be printed after class to take home. Posters can be made for marketing purposes, communions, weddings, showers, graduations, photo collages and more! West Babylon Card Holders Only. Cricut Crafting: Summer Coasters

11 am-1 pm

Learn how to design and make your own personalized creation using our Makerspace Cricut machine. This class will cover choosing and cutting a design. Please come to the class with a design idea. Registration is underway.

Pre-requisite: Basic computer skills and a working email address.

ONLY ONE REGISTRATION PER LEARN HOW SERIES.

  • Patrons who sign up for more than one session of the same series will be contacted and cancelled from one of the sessions.
  • If you like a project and want to make more, we encourage patrons to make a Makerspace appointment. There, you can use the skills you learned during the program to make your projects.

Electronic Recycling Event

Bring your used computers, cell phones, flat screen computer monitors, laptops, tablets, servers, wire & cable, metals, circuit boards, printers, hard drives & storage devices, batteries (lead-acid and rechargeable), car batteries, and more to the Library parking lot for safe disposal. All metals accepted. CRT old tube televisions and monitors, flat screen televisions, wood, and garbage WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. No registration required. Patrons will be helped on a first come, first served basis.
