The Library has a fax machine located in Adult room. It can be used to send domestic or international faxes. Fax cards may be purchased with cash at the Circulation Desk or you can use your debit or credit card for payment.

Your Library Account

  • Login to Your Library Account
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your *Password.
    *To create a new password, visit this page and enter your library card barcode. An email will be sent to the email address in your Library Account, asking you to follow a few steps to establish your password. A valid email address must be present in your Library Record in order to use this service and access online library services.
    *To change your password, use the Forgot Your Password? function. After entering your username or barcode, an email will be sent to the address in your library record, along with instructions for creating a new password.
  • Once you have signed into your Library account, click on the link listing the amount you owe in Fines.
  • If your total exceeds *$1, click on the Amount in unpaid fines link. Next click the Pay Online link.
    *If your total is less than $1 you must pay your fines in person at the Library.
  • Select the fines that you wish to pay or accept the default of paying all fines.
  • Fill in the billing address and credit card information.
  • Click the Submit button.

  • Login to Your Library Account
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your *Password.

An email will be sent to the email address in your Library Account, asking you to follow a few steps to establish your password.   • Once you have signed into your Library account, click the Change Your Contact Information link.
  • In the Text Alert Number field, enter a valid telephone number, then click the button Click Here to Sign Up.
  • Check off the box next to Opt In, then click the Submit button.
    When your telephone number is entered, you will receive courtesy messages (telling you your item is about to be due), overdue messages (telling you your item is overdue) and hold pickup messages (telling you your reserved item is ready for pickup).

  • Login to Your Library Account

  • Once you have signed into your Library account, click the Change Your Contact Information link on the left side of the screen.
  • Choose the Email option under "I would like to receive my notices from the library by:" by clicking inside the circle next to Email.
  • Click the Submit button.

Library Programs and Services

Programs, events and spaces may be photographed or recorded to be utilized in the Library’s print and online publications. Please notify Library staff if you prefer that you or your family members not be photographed.

Check the Current Library Newsletter for a listing of program dates and times. The Library may occasionally offer CPR classes.

If you do not find a listing in the newsletter please contact the American Red Cross.

  • Go to the Calendar of Events on our website and enter the program code or program name in the "Keyword Search" box on the left side of the screen and press "Enter".
  • Click the name of the program.
  • Review the Registration and Event Details.*If the program requires a FEE, you must pay via credit card at the time of registration or call the Library, payment is due within 48 hours of registration in order to secure your seat in the program.
    If the program is Open to WB Cardholders ONLY:
  • Enter the "Library Card" barcode.
  • Enter the "Password" on your library account.
  • First Name, Last Name, Email Address and Telephone Number will be auto filled from your library account.
  • Choose the appropriate age using the drop-down menu if different than the default age which is 18 years +
  • Enter your email address in the "Confirm Email Address" field (case sensitive).
  • Click the "Register" button.
    If the program is Open to ALL:
  • Enter your "First Name" and "Last Name".
  • Choose the appropriate age using the drop-down menu if different than the default age which is 18 years +
  • Enter and confirm your "Email Address" (case sensitive) and "Telephone Number".
  • Click the "Register" button.

  • You can borrow most items with a Library card from any Suffolk County Library.
    *Some restrictions do apply to new items.
  • Most Adult programs are open to Non-Residents 14 days prior to the program date.
  • Children's programs are limited to West Babylon cardholders only.
  • Please contact the Library for more details.

  • WBPL Cardholders can setup a one-on-one appointment (for 30 minutes at a time) with a Librarian on the following topics:
    Live-brary downloads (Libby)
    Library databases and electronic services (Freegal, Flipster, Hoopla, etc.)
    Basics of email and social networking.
    Basic assistance with electronic devices (smartphones, tablets, eBook readers, laptops, etc.) and programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Sessions are 30 minutes each, up to 1 hour per month per cardholder.
  • Please call the Reference Desk, 631-669-5445, to make an appointment.
    *Library staff are unable to fix viruses, install programs, assist with cybersecurity concerns/issues or diagnose hardware problems on patron owned devices.

Library Computers

Use the Library's Book Scan Station.
Your documents and photographs can now be scanned and saved to a USB drive, emailed to the person of your choice, saved to a smart phone, tablet, Google Docs and other cloud services.
*Please be aware that one computer login will be used to access the book scan station.

The public computers run Windows 10 with Microsoft Office 2019 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access).

Yes, you can send a print job to the Library printers using the Printeron Mobile apps available in your smartphone or tablet's app store.
For assistance setting up the app please speak with a Reference Librarian at the Adult Reference Desk.


How to Borrow Library Items

If you are a West Babylon School District resident and do not have a West Babylon Public Library Card, please apply for one in the Library or online.

Kindly present two of the following current (and/or dated within the past 60 days) items which list both YOUR name and address and we will be happy to issue your Library Card.

*NYS driver’s license
*NYS non-driver’s ID
*NYS auto registration or insurance card
*Federal, State, County and Town Government issued ID
*Notarized lease on official form or letterhead
*Property tax receipt
*Property deed
*Business statements (utility, bank or credit card)

All children may have a Library Card in their name. Both the child and parent/guardian must be present when applying.

*Each patron must present their own Library Card in order to use Library services.

*All juveniles under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian sign for access to the Internet and public computers.

*No patron under 18 years of age will have access to specialty materials (i.e. DVDs, cd-roms, etc.).

Library Card Replacement Fee - $2.00

  • When you find the item you want in our Online Catalog, click on the Request link.
  • You will need the Barcode from the back of your Library card and your *Password to place the request.
    *To create a new password, visit this page and enter your library card barcode. An email will be sent to the email address in your Library Account, asking you to follow a few steps to establish your password. A valid email address must be present in your Library Record in order to use this service and access online library services.
    *To change your password, use the Forgot Your Password? function. After entering your username or barcode, an email will be sent to the address in your library record, along with instructions for creating a new password.
  • After entering this information your will be prompted to choose your Pickup Location. If you choose to pickup your item(s) at West Babylon simply click the Submit button.
  • You will be contacted by phone when the item is available.

Some Library materials may be renewed upon request.

There are several methods for renewing:

  • Self renewal, via OPAC (online catalog) computers in the Library (requires an email address in your Library account). You create your own password to access your account and renew items. A Librarian will be happy to assist you.
  • By telephone (631.669.5445), you must have your barcode number (on the back of your Library card).
  • At the Circulation Desk, by a staff member.
  • Through your home computer: Login to Your Library Account (requires an email address in your Library account).
  • You will be prompted to enter your Barcode which is found on the back of your Library card and your Password.

An email will be sent to the email address in your Library Account, asking you to follow a few steps to establish your password.   • Check off the boxes in the Renew column to the left of the list of checked out items, then click on the Renew Selected button just above the list. The new due date for these materials will show to the right of the title, in the Status Column.
